Nightsky and Starlight join the brand’s most attainable series and pack a value that’s anything but entry-level.
Nomos Glashütte’s Club Campus line is uniquely positioned in the German watchmaker’s repertoire. The collection is designed to be a celebratory entry point into the Nomos universe, defined by its playful use of color and no-nonsense time-only functionality, and packed with the brand’s sophisticated in-house movement, for the most competitive price in its catalog — starting at $1,500. Each year, the brand releases a few new color experimentations, and now, the deep blue “Night Sky” and vibrant yellow “Starlight” join the technicolor fleet of the Club Campus.
The new colors are available in the 36mm and 38.5mm sizing, totaling four new watches entering the Club Campus line. As the moniker “Campus” suggests, this collection leans into the old tradition of giving watches as a gift to celebrate a graduation or a new chapter of one’s life, but Nomos manages to do this in a way that is anything but stuffy. While these watches’ bezel-free, rounded case, elongated lugs, and vegan velour strap pairing align with the typical stylings of dress watches, one look at the dial shows that these pieces are unafraid to lean into joy.
Of the two new colors, Nightsky is clearly more subdued, with its dark blue tone, but its California dial mixing Arabic and Roman numerals and that poppy-orange hand on the sub-seconds bring in the playful personality that Nomos has honed to the forefront. Additionally, the oversized numerals are thinly outlined in an orange hue, which gives an interesting graphic effect: I actually mistook the color of the numerals to be pink at first glance. It’s a small detail, but for me, it goes a long way.
Starlight, which the brand details is “inspired by the brightest star in the sky,” might just be the brightest color option within the Club Campus collection. The yellow hue is something of a shock to the system and, paired with the quintessential bright orange seconds hand and orange outlining on the silvery numerals, feels even more daring. But I would argue that the dressy details of the rest of the watch make a dial like this feel more grounded and more wearable. It’s something that would pair well when styled with a more subdued outfit to bring back some of its wearer’s personal sense of boldness. Additionally, all the Super-LumiNova details on the hands and numerals glow in a blue hue in low-light conditions.
The Club Campus line is intended to be a daily driver, ready for any occasion, and the four models of this new extension of the Club Campus series are water-resistant up to 10 meters – safe for any spontaneous swimming excursions. Each model is equipped with the Nomos-manufactured Alpha caliber with manual winding and a 43-hour power reserve. And while you won’t be able to see the beautifully decorated, 17-jeweled movements through the closed caseback, there is plenty of room on the latter for engraving a special commemorative message.
All four new models of the Club Campus Starlight and Nightsky are available for purchase now. The 36mm models are priced at $1,500 and the 38.5mm models retail for $1,650. For more information, visit the brand's website here.
