Omega Launches Seamaster 37mm Milano Cortina For 2026 Olympic Winter Games

Omega proves the best limited editions are universally appealing

Just released by Omega is the new Seamaster 37mm Milano Cortina for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. In case you’re totally new to watches, Omega has been the official timekeeper for the Olympics since 1932 and this is the first, but certainly not the last, timepiece from the brand that we’ll see ahead of next year’s Winter Games in Italy.

While it’s not technically based on the 1956 Omega Seamaster Olympic XVI Ref. 2850SC for the Melbourne Summer Olympics, the “dog leg” lugs and decidedly dressy nature of this new Seamaster makes the connection clear. For the previous Winter Games in Beijing 2022, Omega released a reissue of a dress watch from 1939, in a gold case with a grand feu enamel dial, elements that are also found on this new release.

The 37mm-wide Moonshine Gold case of the Seamaster 37mm Milano Cortina boasts those pronounced and rather beautiful angular lugs, which are complemented by the hexagonal crown seen on only certain vintage Olympics models like the aforementioned Ref. 2850SC and Ref. 2984. Personally, I find this to be one of the more exquisite dress watch dials Omega has released in recent memory. The white grand feu enamel dial matched with those applied, faceted Moonshine-Gold hour markers and dauphine hands make for a quietly rich dial. Not to be forgotten, the minute track and Seamaster typography are done in grey petit feu enamel, which is something you just never see. Really an exceptional job by Omega here.

The solid caseback is made of gold with a grained finish and a Milano Cortina 2026 logo. Housed within is the automatic Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807, which boasts a gold rotor and operates at 3.5 Hz with a 55-hour power reserve. Finally, the watch comes on a brown leather strap with a matching gold clasp, which also bears that classic Omega logo in a positive relief.

The Omega Seamaster 37mm Milano Cortina Ref. 522.53.37.20.04.001 pulls off making a limited-edition novelty so universally appealing and well-executed that one can’t help but wish it was part of the permanent collection. Considering the elaborate, solid-gold case, enamel dial, and ideal size, the price of $19,300 is right around where we’d expect it to be.
