We Asked “Neo-Vintage Or Contemporary Rolex GMT?” And Thousands Of You Voted. Who Won?

A few weeks ago we ran a poll on our instagram ( @teddybaldassarre) asking which Rolex GMT you prefer: old or new? More specifically, the neo-vintage Ref. 16750 that used to be made with an aluminum bezel or the contemporary Ref. 126710BLRO with the ceramic bezel Rolex started using in 2005. With thousands of votes cast, a clear winner emerged — but by no means was it a total landslide.

Indeed, the old-school Ref. 16750 aluminum bezel model won with 55% of the vote while the still-in-production Ref. 126710BLRO came in with an also-strong 45%. We have a feeling a “both” option would have done really well, but what’s the fun in that? As usual, we had several thoughtful comments as well, with more than a few people mentioning that they actually like the ceramic bezel but prefer the older font. Ironically, another popular sentiment was that some people value the dings and patina that come with aluminum as opposed to what is technically considered a “superior” material in ceramic.

Stay tuned for our next poll and make sure to let us know if you’ve got a good question that you want the community to weigh in on!
