Just released by Breitling is the Jazzy new Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 Miles Davis limited edition watch done in honor of the late music legend’s 100th birthday. Miles Davis famously wore a Breitling Navitimer Ref. 806 Mk5 back in the day and it’s probably one of the most culturally relevant ways in which a tool watch was worn as a fashion statement. Not just a standard edition with a few design touches applied, this limited edition take on the Navitimer has movement, case, and design touches that hearken back to that mid-'60s style of the Ref. 806 Mk5.

This Navitimer is unique in that it’s the only current configuration that has a 41mm case as well as the manual-winding B09 manufacture caliber movement, two major touches that keep the watch as era-accurate as possible. The dial is a lovely reverse-panda done with some admittedly tastefully done creamy vintage-inspired lume as well as the old “Twin Jet” logo. For those not familiar, this dates back to 1952 when the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) would sell Navitimers with this winged logo on it. Fun fact: Davis’ Navitimer was the first one that had the AOPA logo matched with a reverse-panda dial.

The case here measures 41mm wide and 13mm thick with a lug-to-lug measurement of 47.09mm. Turning the watch over reveals the COSC-certified manual-wind B09 caliber movement that boasts a column wheel and vertical clutch. The B09 operates at 4Hz and has a 70 hour power reserve. The watch is available on a leather strap or the very cool looking steel Air Racer bracelet with that retro “vented” design.

Finally, let’s get to the “Lifetime Club Member Set” which alludes to a new program being launched by Breitling. This “Breitling Social Club” will open in late 2027 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and will serve as a sort of club for the brand and its collectors. The watch will get you a two year membership while the Lifetime Club Member Set gets you a lifetime membership. The set itself isn’t too bad either, with a 50-piece run of a trio of these tribute watches done in steel as well as 18k yellow gold and platinum models.
