15 Best Purple-Dial Watches From Affordable to Luxury

Purple is the color of royalty, and it appears that a Purple Reign has started to quietly take over the watch world in recent years, with violet hues finding their way to an increasing number of dials, from a somewhat surprisingly diverse range of watch brands. Like their predecessors in green, red, and orange, purple dials are still, in fact, something of a novelty; many of the timepieces featured below are intended for a niche, limited audience. Nevertheless, the rise of purple tones on watch dials is worthy of notice, and almost certainly here to stay for a while, Here we’ve gathered 15 of our favorite purple-dial watches in ascending order of price, from under $500 to over $85K.

Citizen Tsuyosa Automatic Sunray Purple Dial

Best Purple Dial watch citizen

Price: $475, Case Size: 37mm, Water Resistance: 50 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber 8210

Best known for its light-powered Eco-Drive movements, Japan’s Citizen also offers a lineup of mechanical timepieces, including the NJ015 automatic series, nicknamed “Tsuyosa,” a Japanese word meaning “strength.” Speaking to the contemporary trend towards eye-catching colorful dials, Tsuyosa models offer a variety of them, with a subtle sunburst finish, including the purple dial watch above. The round, chamfered steel cases measure 40mm in diameter and 11.7mm thick, with an unconventionally positioned crown at 4 o’clock for better ergonomics on the wrist. The bracelet has what Citizen describes as a “mountain-shaped” design thanks to its individually curved links, with the center links and the bezel both sleekly polished. The self-winding movement inside is Citizen’s Caliber 8210, storing a 40-hour power reserve.

Oris Aquis Ben Bridge Edition

Best Purple Dial watch oris

Price: $2,500, Case Size: 43.5mm/36.5mm, Water Resistance: 300 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Oris Caliber 733 (Sellita SW200-1 base)

Oris introduced its Aquis collection of sporty, versatile dive watches in 2011 and in its relatively brief run the Aquis family of watches has become a core component of the Swiss brand’s identity. The three-handed Aquis Date remains the entry-level model in the collection, now available in both an impressive range of colorways and a variety of size options. The Aquis Ben Bridge Editions unveiled in 2025, and developed in cooperation with (and exclusive to) Seattle-based Ben Bridge Jeweler, are the first Aquis models to bring purple mother-of-pearl into the expanding array of dial options, and are offered in steel cases measuring either 43.5mm (in a limited edition of 125 pieces) or a more understated 36.5mm (just 40 pieces). Inside both, behind a sapphire exhibition caseback, ticks the Sellita-based Oris Caliber 733, with its emblematic red-painted rotor.

Seiko Astron GPS Solar Chronograph SSH171

Best Purple Dial watch seiko

Price: $2,700, Case Size: 42mm, Thickness: 12.4mm, Lug to Lug: 49.5mm, Lug Width: 14mm, Water Resistance: 100 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Seiko GPS Solar Caliber 5X83

Seiko launched the Astron GPS series in 2012 as a modern-day revival of its original Astron, which debuted in 1969 as the first wristwatch on the market with a quartz movement. The newer Astrons take the technology to a higher level, with quartz calibers that receive energy from sunlight and maintain ultra-accurate timekeeping through the reception of GPS satellite signals. Debuting as a limited edition of 1,500 pieces in 2025, this version of the Astron GPS Solar Chronograph watch features a 42mm case made of black-coated titanium and a glittering “night sky” gradient purple dial that is inspired by Japan’s famed cherry blossoms blooming under the stars. The in-house solar quartz Caliber 5X52 drives the timekeeping as well as the multiple indications on the three subdials, including a 1/20-second chronograph, a day-of-the-week display, dual-time indications, and a power reserve display for the ultra-efficient rechargeable solar battery.

Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Violette

Best Purple Dial watch louis erard

Price: $2,900, Case Size: 39mm, Thickness: 12.82mm, Lug to Lug: 45.9mm, Lug Width: 20mm, Water Resistance: 50 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Sellita Caliber SW261-1

Louis Erard has a long history of watchmaking, tracing its foundation all the way back to 1931, but it has really come into its own in the 21st Century, placing its focus squarely on making classically elegant, artisanal timepieces at prices that belie the complexity of the craftsmanship behind them. The Excellence Petite Seconde Violette is a prime example, with its 39mm stainless steel case sporting a polished finish, and a vibrant, purple-hued dial hosting a combination of applied Arabic hour numerals and baton indexes and swept over by the brand’s signature tree-shaped hands, also boating a polished finish. The eponymous small seconds display dominates the bottom half of the dial, enhanced by a vintage-style crosshairs motif.

Favre-Leuba Chief Date Royal Purple

Best Purple Dial watch favre leuba

Price: $3,050, Case Size: 40mm, Thickness: 10.1mm, Lug Width: 22mm, Water Resistance: 100 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber FLD03

If you’re new to watches, you may have never even heard of Favre-Leuba, but it brings centuries of history to the table; in fact, it’s the second-oldest watchmaker in the world, founded in 1737. Today’s Favre-Leuba specializes in modern-day revivals of its mid-20th-Century classics, like the Chief collection, which takes cues from cushion-shaped Valjoux 23 chronographs from the 1970s. The Chief Date Royal Purple pairs its 40mm steel cushion case with a shimmering, deeply saturated purple dial, emblazoned with the historic brand’s signature high-relief hourglass pattern. The hands are rhodium-plated and luminous-coated, and the date appears in an aperture at 3 o’clock. The self-winding FLD03 caliber beats inside, with an array of embellishments on display through the caseback, including on its skeletonized rotor, with its spiral-patterned colimaçonnage motif. The watch comes on an integrated bracelet or a purple FKM rubber strap.

Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Purple

Best Purple Dial watch nomos

Price: $3,480, Case Size: 34mm, Thickness: 8.2mm, Lug to Lug: 41.5mm, Lug Width: 18mm, Water Resistance: 200 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber DUW 3001

Nomos, renowned for its Bauhaus-esque minimalist aesthetics, introduced its everyday-wear Club collection in 2007 and followed that up with the more robustly built Club Sport models in 2019. Club models are identified by their round cases with wide bezels; bolder applied Arabic numerals on the dials (reminiscent of the typography on U.S. Highway signage, the brand says) and broad, pointed hands with luminous coating. The Club Sport Neomatik debuted in an indisputably masculine 42mm size but the family has since grown to include a range of unisex options, including this purple-dial watch  that comes in at a very modest 34mm. “Neomatik” refers to the watch’s movement, made in-house by Nomos, the self-winding Caliber DUW 3001, which is equipped with the German brand’s proprietary “Swing System” escapement and has a host of traditional decorations on display behind the exhibition caseback.

Ming 57.04 Iris

Best Purple Dial watch ming

Price: $6,250, Case Size: 40mm, Thickness: 11.85mm, Lug to Lug: 47.8mm, Lug Width: 20mm, Water Resistance: 100 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber MING SW562.M1 (Sellita base)

Photographer and watch aficionado Ming Thein founded his eponymous watch brand in 2017, and after eight successful years (including two GPHG awards), the brand kicks off its fifth design generation with the 57.04 Iris, an Art Deco-flavored monopusher chronograph with a minimalist aesthetic and a uniquely eye-catching dial. The steel case has sculptural lines and a layered, “nested” architecture, with the indexes laser-cut into the top crystal layer. The watch takes its name from the color-shifting dial, which catches light to go from turquoise to purple, with subtle blue shades in between, courtesy of the multiphasic coating on its brass base.. Ming partnered with Swiss movement-maker Sellita to develop the proprietary SW562.M1 caliber, a manual-winding movement with single-pusher control for the flyback chronograph and a 60-hour power reserve. The chronograph measures short intervals up to 30 minutes, hence the single subdial at 6 o’clock that drives home the watch’s understated character.

Norqain Independence Skeleton Chrono 42mm Purple

Best Purple Dial watch norqain

Price: $6,890, Case Size: 41.8mm, Thickness: 13.9mm, Lug to Lug: 49.8mm, Lug Width: 22mm, Water Resistance: 100 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber NK24/1

Founded in 2018 by Swiss watch entrepreneur Ben Küffer, former Breitling co-owner Ted Schneider, and retired NHL player Mark Streit, Norqain has become a player in the field of value-driven watches inspired by sports and outdoor activities, particularly mountaineering. The proprietary, skeletonized 8K caliber that powers the Independence Skeleton Chrono editions, including the watch featured here, with a black-and-purple openworked dial, takes its name from the “Eight Thousanders,” the world’s 14 highest mountains. Its attributes include a flyback chronograph mechanism driven by a column wheel, a 62-hour power reserve, a COSC chronometer certification, and on the dial side, cutaway sections in the shape of mountains. The case of this 500-piece purple-dial limited edition is made of grade 5 titanium, is mounted on a color-matching purple strap made from animal cruelty-free rubber, and includes Norqain’s signature customizable side plate for personalization.

TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Purple Dial

Best Purple Dial watch tag heuer

Price: $7,000, Case Size: 39mm, Thickness: 13.9mm, Lug Width: 20.7mm, Water Resistance: 100 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber TH20-00

The Carrera is TAG Heuer’s iconic racing chronograph, tracing its origin to 1964 and its name to a famously dangerous rally race, the Carrera Panamericana. In 2023, TAG Heuer re-engineered the Carrera to bring it closer to its design roots. The new “glassbox” models (see our review here) derive their name from the vintage-inspired, domed sapphire crystal over the 39mm steel case, evoking the shape of the Hesalite crystals on the 1960s models and allowing the tachymeter scale at the dial’s edge to be read legibly in a wider range of angles. This model with a smokey purple gradient dial and contrasting black subdials debuted in early 2025, outfitted with TAG Heuer’s TH20-00 caliber, with a bidirectional winding system meant to increase efficiency of the winding and to enable a longer, 80-hour power reserve. The easily interchangeable, perforated, purple calf-leather strap continues the monochromatic charm.

Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Spring Drive UFA Limited Edition SLGB005 Ice Forest “Violet Dawn”

Best Purple Dial watch grand seiko

Price: $11,100, Case Size: 37mm, Thickness: 11.4mm, Water Resistance: 100 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Spring Drive UFA Caliber 9RB2

In Spring of 2025, Grand Seiko introduced its Spring Drive Ultra-Fine Accuracy (UFA) caliber, which claims an astounding accuracy of +/- 20 seconds per year. This fall, the Japanese high-horology house installed that historic movement — currently the most accurate mainspring-driven watch movement in the world — into a new 1,000-piece limited edition from its historically inspired Evolution 9 series, the SLGB005 Ice Forest “Violet Dawn.” The watch takes its name from its textured, purple-toned dial, meant to evoke the “ethereal violet glow” of a breaking dawn over the frost-covered forests of Japan’s Shinshu region (which, not coincidentally, is where Grand Seiko makes the movement). The 37mm case and its bracelet are made of “Ever Brilliant Steel,” an alloy that boasts exceptional corrosion resistance and also a bright, mirrored finish courtesy of Grand Seiko’s meticulous Zaratsu polishing. An exhibition caseback showcases the movement, Caliber 9RB2, which brings to the table an array of frost-inspired finishing of its own, along with a three-day power reserve.

Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date “Plasma”

Best Purple Dial watch Glashuette Original

Price: $17,100, Case Size: 40mm, Thickness: 14.1mm, Water Resistance: 100 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber 37-02

Glashütte Original’s Seventies collection is one of the two pillars of the Vintage series, which pays tribute to the distinctive designs of two seminal decades in watchmaking, the 1960s and 1970s. Whereas the Sixties branch of the family has traditional, rounded cases, the Seventies watches are recognizable for their softly squared “TV”-style cases, a hallmark of timepieces from that eponymous decade. The recently launched Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date “Plasma” watch sports a lacquered purple dial with a velvety matte surface, created in the German maker’s own dial factory and designed to evoke futuristic imagery. The 40mm x 40mm square case has softly rounded edges and contrasting polished and brushed finishes; the subdials and the extra-large “Panorama” date display have a galvanic, black vinyl texture that contrasts with the dial’s bold hue. The in-house automatic Caliber 37-02 beats inside, showing off its decorative finishing behind a clear caseback.

Cyrus Klepcys GMT Royal Purple

Best Purple Dial watch Cyrus

Price: $27,552, Case Size: 42mm, Thickness: 10.1mm, Lug Width: 22mm, Water Resistance: 100 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber CYR708

Cyrus, the Swiss high-horology brand that takes its name from 6th Century Persian King Cyrus the Great, introduced its first in-house automatic movement, Caliber CYR708, in 2020, launching it inside the first model in its GMT Retrograde collection. The Royal Purple version of that groundbreaking timepiece debuted in 2024, distinguished, like its predecessors, by a multilevel, three-dimensional openworked dial that displays local time and home time simultaneously. The 9 o’clock crown/pusher on the cushion-shaped titanium case adjusts the local time in one-hour increments, while the home time is indicated on the arc-shaped 24-hour scale with a retrograde hand that instantly returns to its starting point at the end of each day. The complex dial architecture allows for a view of the Cyrus brand’s hallmark palm tree-shaped upper bridge, here in vivid purple achieved in an ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) process that ensures a uniform, homogeneous color coating as well as anticorrosive properties.

H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Purple Enamel

Best Purple Dial watch moser

Price: $27,900, Case Size: 40mm, Thickness: 11.2mm, Water Resistance: 30 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber HMC 201

H. Moser & Cie. brings its mastery of breathtaking fumé dials to a new artistic level in the Centre Seconds Concept Purple Enamel edition unveiled in 2025. The unique “Purple Haze” hue of the dial is achieved in a multi-step artisanal process that begins with engraving a hammered, textural affect on a white gold base, and culminates with six different colored shades of enamel being carefully washed and blended, then undergoing successive firings in the ancestral “Grand Feu” technique for the final, intensely deep violet color and semitransparent texture. The 40mm steel case contains the in-house automatic Caliber HMC 201, notable for its double hairspring, partly skeletonized bridges and rotor, and three-day power reserve, and is mounted on a kudu leather strap that carries forth the purple tones of the dial.

Czapek Antarctique Purple Storm

Best Purple Dial watch czapek

Price: $29,500, Case Size: 40.5mm, Thickness: 10.6mm, Water Resistance: 120 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber SXH5

The Czapek brand takes its name and inspiration from Francois Czapek, the largely forgotten co-founder of the watchmaking house that would become known as Patek Philippe in 1839. Starting out as a crowdfunded concern, Czapek has become a boutique luxury watchmaker to be reckoned with, a purveyor of coveted limited editions that tend to sell out in short order, including the Antarctique series that was established in 2020. The Antarctique Purple Storm, which debuted in 2024 in a scant 18-piece run, dazzles with its hand-varnished purple dial, created in collaboration with the Swiss dial specialist Metalem, whose swirling, layered shades evoke rolling storm clouds in a darkening sky. The watch is also notable for its meticulously designed and finished integrated-bracelet design and for its in-house automatic movement, with a 60-hour power reserve and a microrotor crafted in recycled platinum.

Speake-Marin One & Two Openworked Tourbillon Purple Hour

Best Purple Dial watch speake marin

Price: $87,000, Case Size: 42mm, Thickness: 12.35mm, Water Resistance: 30 meters, Crystal: Sapphire, Movement: Automatic Caliber SMA05

The design concept behind Speake-Marin’s One & Two Openworked Tourbillon is, according to the brand, meant to evoke the architecture of a futuristic city, defined by its multilayered dial with unconventionally arranged front-mounted bridges, a flying tourbillon cage in an aperture at 1:30 to display the running seconds, a large exposed mainspring barrel, and a dial-side micro-rotor, balancing out the tourbillon and winding the proprietary SMA05 caliber. The “Purple Hour” edition, released in 2025, adds a regal purple PVD coloring to the dial’s dominant areas, intended to evoke the “purple hour”  just before twilight, when blue, turquoise, and ultraviolet shades appear in the sky. The British-themed elements that call back to the brand’s founding are evident in this timepiece, including the rounded “Picadilly” case (in grade 5 titanium, either 38mm or 42mm diameter) with distinctive protruding lugs; the large onion crown; the heart-tipped hour and minute hands over the dial; and the watchmaker’s “topping tool” motif used for the tourbillon’s rhodium-finished, mirror-polished bridge. The purple-colored calf leather strap has a denim motif for a touch of rugged style.

I thought the Christopher Ward C1 Bel Canto Viola would have made the cut. Did Teddy miss it, or was in just not worthy of making his short list?
